Nijigal Lab Open Positions

Open Positions

The Nijagal Lab strives to balance and maintain an environment that is both productive and one that members enjoy and will miss when they leave. In addition to the lab's mission to explore the boundaries of what's known in the field of fetal immunology and liver development, we see our lab as a training ground for those that pass through, to make sure that anyone who joins us, at any level, leaves with the critical thinking skills and technical tools needed in scientific research.

The Nijagal Lab hires people at various levels of career development, from fresh out of undergraduate studies to a multi-lab experienced postdoctoral scholar interested in academia or industry. Active and open positions will be published here, as well as on the UCSF job applicant pages (we recommend searching using the following job title keywords: Staff Research Associate, Postdoctoral Researcher, and/or Specialist).

The process of joining the lab involves meeting with Amar Nijagal and our current lab members to discuss the role you'd be coming in to fill, give you a better understanding of the current projects in the lab, and provide an opportunity to meet the team and get their take on life in the lab. The chance to speak with Alumni members can also be arranged upon your request. Depending on your previous work experience, you may be asked to prepare and give a talk during one of our lab meetings.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers will work closely with members of the lab, assisting in cell biology experiments that include cell culture, PCR, and flow cytometry. Previous volunteers have been high school and undergraduate students aiming for careers in medicine or life sciences. Due to the amount of time required to onboard a new lab member before they're able to work independently, we strongly prefer that new volunteers commit to at least 3 full, consecutive days/week, for at least their first 8 weeks. After this initial period, membership in the lab can be maintained with a 10hr/week commitment.

If you're interested in volunteering, please fill out this form.

Thank you for your interest in our research and in joining our team!
